Once Clean Economy Canada – North Star Action Plan
Canada Cleantech Alliance is a proud member of the One Canadian Clean Economy Task Force. Together with other members representing industries across the clean economy, we believe Canada can simultaneously safeguard its economy from the trade and tariff shocks of today while setting itself up to compete for the long term—ultimately reaping massive economic advantage from the global energy transition. Our North Star Action Plan lays out 30 solutions aimed at this government’s biggest priorities: selecting strategic projects of national significance, reducing internal trade barriers, advancing Indigenous reconciliation, and realizing a federal climate competitiveness strategy.
From streamlining lengthy and duplicative regulatory processes to directing new federal reskilling investments toward clean economy jobs, the plan identifies roadblocks—and the solutions to clear them—across eight key areas of action that align with the prime minister’s priorities: selecting and advancing projects of national significance, reducing internal trade barriers, supporting Indigenous reconciliation, and—expected to be highlighted in tomorrow’s budget—boosting climate competitiveness.
The task force believes that, guided by clean competitiveness as its north star, Canada can temper the short-term impacts of U.S. tariffs while unlocking our full potential as a clean energy superpower in a rapidly electrifying world.
